End of Year Review

by Sadie Meaher

It’s hard to believe 2014 has come to an end. It has been an exciting year for us as we continue to grow. As 2015 begins, we want to share with you a few highlights from this past year.

We kicked off 2014 with a bang by serving 944 students in the Winter semester, making it one of our largest semesters! But, that wasn’t the only growth for NCE. As part of our expansion efforts, we opened a new satellite location at Wright Middle School in January. This location was an instant success with over 200 students enrolled in the first semester. We will be offering 22 classes at Wright this 2015 Winter session, including our popular Spanish and Italian classes and new classes such as Copyright Law and Self-Leadership. As this location continues to grow, we have set our goal to serve 300 students this semester! As we finished our Winter 2014 semester, Summer was off to a great start! Even though this is an abbreviated semester, we served 458 students in a few short weeks. Also during the summer session I came aboard as the new Communications Coordinator for the office. I jumped right in and began working on our upcoming Fall 2014 semester. We kicked off the Fall with three open house events at the Antioch Farmer’s Market, The Cohn School, and Wright Middle School. Through our extended community outreach, we welcomed 270 new students to our program. We have made tremendous growth, but we have set bigger goals for our program in 2015.

This year our goal is to serve 2,400 students and provide more professional development opportunities for the community. One way we help students achieve their professional goals is through our new Small Business Symposium at the Southeast Library on March 21st. This 4-part series will give you the tools you need to start a small business, improve your overall multi-media marketing strategy, enhance your leadership skills, and more. Be sure to check out our website to register for this beneficial program.

Thanks for joining us for Coco and Classes January 5th-8th. If you didn’t stop by, you missed a treat! Registration is still ongoing, so register now before your class fills up. You can register by mail, fax, in person, or online.
